Our Story
Literacy Guru was founded by educators who saw firsthand how a lack of reading confidence could hold back even the brightest students. Too many children were falling through the cracks, and too many adults were quietly struggling — afraid to ask for help.
We set out to build something different: a tutoring program rooted in warmth, patience, and genuine expertise. A place where learners of all ages feel safe to struggle, grow, and ultimately thrive.
Today, we work with hundreds of students across all ages and backgrounds — from kindergarteners just discovering letters to adults returning to education after years away. Every session is guided by the same belief: that with the right support, every learner can unlock the power of words.

Jonathan Solomon
Founder & ELA Teacher
Jonathan holds a Master's both in ELA Education and Special Education and has spent 12 years helping struggling readers and writers find their footing. He founded Literacy Guru after seeing too many bright students lose confidence in themselves with respect to their reading and writing skills.
